The 100% Fish for Profit conference, formerly known as Fish Waste for Profit, will be the 6th edition of the Icelandic Fisheries Conferences, which runs alongside The Icelandic Fisheries Seafood & Aqua Exhibition and the Aquaculture conference, from 23-24th September.
The conference will take place at Smárinn/Fífan, Dalsmára 5, 201 Kópavogi. Equipping attendees with insights and knowledge sharing with 140 other industry specialists on how to maximize their return on investment by transforming potentially discarded parts of the catch into high-value products for non-food sectors. Attendees were invited to attend the 15th Icelandic Fisheries, Seafood & Aqua Exhibition (IceFish) free of charge. This offers attendees the opportunity to network with over 13,000 commercial fishing, supply chain, value added and processing professionals. There will also be dedicated networking time at IceFish on day two of the conference.
The reutilisation of fish processing by-products is a lucrative add-on to regular fish processing, serving the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and agricultural industries. Estimates reveal that 43% of fish and shellfish resources end up as wastage, which represents a significant amount of potential profit that could be generated from otherwise discarded material.
